================== | Don Szerlip's Statements | ================== |
SAFE STREETS AND SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS: The first element in preserving our Quality of Life is keeping our community safe. I will ensure that all our public safety services - police, fire and paramedics - have the resources they need to do their job.
FIGHT FOR NEIGHBORHOOD PRESERVATION: We must balance the need for growth with our right to enjoy peaceful, residential neighborhoods. Our streets should not be used for cut-through traffic and overflow parking. I will fight against projects that are incompatible or out-of-character with our neighborhood.
PROVIDE BETTER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES: I want to build a strong partnership between the City and the School District to improve our schools and coordinate youth services. By working together, the School District and City could provide our kids with programs that otherwise wouldn't be affordable.
PROTECT OUR TAX DOLLARS: As a business owner, I know how to cut waste and balance a budget. I will insist that the city be run on a business basis with complete accountability. For every tax dollar spent, we must get a dollar's worth of services.
"Redondo Beach has the best Quality of Life in the region. I will not tolerate anything that will destroy the character of our community. I will be open and accessible - and I will always put the Public Interest first. I ask for your vote on May 13th."
